Week#12 of 2019 Good morning!  I hope this message finds you well and looking forward to the week ahead.

Today, we will be wrapping up our three part series on LCA, or Life-Cycle-Assessment tools.  In this discussion, I'd like to take a Forward Lean// and talk about where all this technology is going.  Any forward looking comments contain a degree of risk and uncertainty, so always keep that in mind.  At Synaptic, when we make forward technology projections we use a methodology that includes gaining an understanding of adjacencies, evaluating momentum, and then anticipating convergence.  With LCA, we see strong adjacency movement in big data, block-chain, and AI.  We also see growing global social and hence governmental pressures on sustainability and accountability.  In the financial sector we see companies being indexed on financial risks due to their proactive response to sustainability challenges in their space.  The fastest momentum is in big data and that trajectory is converging with social pressures and governmental regulations.  As a Forward Lean// we feel that LCA tools will increasingly become hard-wired into enterprise wide IT platforms, part of corporate reporting, and a quantifiable decision metric for investors and analysts.  An early example of this can be found in the letter to shareholders issued by Larry Fink the CEO of Blackrock who manages over $6.3 Trillion dollars in assets.  Government regulators are also going to be seeking funding to support corrective actions in their communities.  Data reporting tools, accountability, and the requirement for reporting sustainability performance are certain to follow.  As LCA grows from discrete static tools, to more sophisticated real-time monitoring tools it will be even more important for us as professionals to understand the driving attributes, and how to effectively use the data to make good decisions.

I hope you found this three part dialogue on LCA helpful.  Drop us a line if you have further questions.  Have a great week and enjoy the articles below!
